Saint Florian dressed as a roman soldier with the crusades flag in his hand which shows his Christian faith, is representing one of his most infamous deed of putting out a fire, known to all firemen has made him the protector against fires and the Saint Martyr of the Firemen.
Florian, at the age of 10, went for water in a creek near his village and armed with a bucket and extinguished a fire which had begun out of control at next house over from his parents wooden home, thus saving their lives and property.
He is also venerated through Europe and best know as the Saint Martyr of the Firemen in Latin America. |
